The four units of the primer focus on competencies necessary to:

  • Identify an appropriate information source for the context of a question
  • Create a PICO-structured clinical question
  • Translate a PICO question into a search query and utilize features and functions of selected search tools
  • Select the highest quality evidence from search results using sound criteria

This primer introduces a systematic approach to searching nursing and allied health literature for credible, high-level evidence addressing patient care related questions.
