This primer introduces a systematic approach to searching medical literature for credible high-level evidence that addresses patient care related questions.

The four units of the primer focus on four competencies necessary to:

  • Identify an appropriate information source within the context of a question
  • Translate a PICO-structured clinical question into a search strategy
  • Utilize features and functions of selected search tools
  • Select the highest quality evidence from search results using sound criteria
